Who Are We? Our Diary Meetings Sleepovers Trips

Spring Term 2008

9th January: Team Building

We decided to have a move around of our Sixes after a number of girls moved to Guides or didn't return after the Christmas break. To get the Brownies used to their new Sixes we played a number of team building games. Their favourite was In The Giant's Castle. Brownies have to get themselves into various shapes that might be found in a giant's castle such as a table, chair, bed etc. Points are awarded to the Six that makes themselves into the best object within a given time.

16th January: Enrolment & Games Night

We had a large number of Brownies join us at the end of last year when we increased our numbers and had a few girls go to Guides. We had a mass enrolment night so that all of these girls could make their promise.

23rd January: Pancake Night

Yes we know it was early! Little Owl's dad comes to make pancakes with the Brownies every year. This year, however, he was going to be in Australia for pancake day and so we brought it forward just so we didn't miss out. They were as good as always!

30th January: Hama Beads

We had quite a lot of Hama Beads left from our Sleepover in November and so we spent the night making Hama Bead pictures to decorate our notice board. We also made inivitations to invite our mum's to Brownies for Mother's Day.

6th February: Valentine's Craft

Little Owl made Valentine's cards with the Brownies for part of her Adult Leadership Qualification.

20th February: Thinking Day with 2nd Pack Brownies

We invited Stocton Brook's other Brownie pack to join us for a Native American themed Thinking Day. We made Dream Catchers and God's Eyes. 2nd Pack Brownies taught us to play Indian's & Teepees. We also sung We are the Red Men.

27th February: Mother's Day

We invited mum's to join us for the nigh to celebrate Mother's Day. However, rather than pampering them we wore them out by teaching them some of the Brownies' favourite games. For some games we teamed mothers and daughters together but for others we pitted them against each other. We also gave all mum's a quiz to see how well they knew their daughters. We did supply them with tea and cakes to reward them for their hard work!

5th & 12th March: Communicator Badge

The girls worked hard to achieve their communicator badge. They learnt the Phonetic Alphabet and the basics of sign language as well as a few French phrases. We tried expressing our emotions through body language and learnt how to send a text message (although most of them were better at this than the leaders). Finally the girls designed a poster advertising Brownies and sent either a letter or email to Brown Owl stating their favourite thing about Brownies.

19th March: Easter Crafts

Snowy Owl made Easter pictures andcards with the Brownies as part of her Adult Leadership Qualification.
