Who Are We? Our Diary Meetings Sleepovers Trips

We are girls aged 7 to 10 years old and we meet at Stockton Brook Scout & Guide Headquarters in Stoke on Trent (Staffordshire, England). If you are interested in joining us the please email brownies1@stocktonbrook.org.uk  for more details.

At Brownies we play games, do crafts, go on trips, have sleepovers and generally have a fun time. We often work in small groups called Sixes.
When you start Brownies you will join one of these Sixes giving you a group of ready-made friends to take care of you! Our Sixes are Badgers, Squirrels, Foxes and Hedgehogs

Making Your Promise

Shortly after joining Brownies you will be given the Becoming a Brownie book. This explains more about what Brownies are and what we do. When you have worked through this book you can make your Brownie Promise. When you make your Promise you will receive one of our yellow book bags, a Promise badge, our county badge, and badges that show which Six and Pack you are in.

The Brownie Uniform

Although we do have a Brownie uniform, it is up to you which items from the uniform you would like to wear. This allows you to be yourself but also makes you feel part of the Pack. We expect you to wear your uniform at every Brownie meeting.

Brownies is an Adventure!

Once you have made your Promise you will work towards achieving your Adventure badge. This doesn't mean you'll have lots of homework. Brownies isn't school!! It just means that through having fun as a Brownie you will automatically complete everything you need to achieve your Adventure badge.

Before you have reached your 9th birthday you will probably have taken part in enough Brownie activities to achieve your Adventure badge and move on to achieving your Adventure On badge. Once again this won't mean lots of extra work. It's just our way of recognising that you're getting older and more responsible to taken on a few extra roles in Brownies.

Almost 10?

As you approach 10 years old you might be thinking about joining Guides. To help prepare you for this you can start to work towards the Brownies Go For It! This is a fun way of developing your skills in areas such as team working and decision making. To find out more about the Guide unit at Stockton Brook visit their section of our website here.
